The Center for Professional Development is now offering 25-week certificate programs. These programs consist of five, five week courses except for Residential Interior Décor, which runs for 11 weeks in total. Classes conveniently meet one night per week or on Saturday mornings.

The Illinois Institute of Art® - Schaumburg, a branch of The Illinois Institute of Art - Chicago, is accredited through ACCSCT.

The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools has granted initial accreditation to The Illinois Institute of Art - Schaumburg.

"Our faculty and staff have always worked diligently to provide our students with the highest quality education," said The Illinois Institute of Art - Schaumburg President David Ray. "Accreditation by The Higher Learning Commission further ensures that our current and future students will have the opportunity to thrive in an environment that is preparing them for an enriching career in their chosen fields."

The school engaged in a process of self-study for more than one and a half years, addressing the Commission's requirements and criteria for accreditation. The Commission conducted a site visit to the school in November 2005, after The Illinois Institute of Art - Schaumburg completed its self-study.

The Higher Learning Commission is one of six accrediting agencies in the United States that provide institutional accreditation on a regional basis. Institutional accreditation evaluates an entire institution and accredits it as a whole. Other agencies provide accreditation for specific programs. Accreditation is voluntary. The Commission accredits approximately 950 institutions of higher education in a nineteen-state region. The Commission is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
