Concord Law School is approved as a degree-granting institution in the State of California by the Bureau of Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education. Approval means the law school and its operation comply with standards established by California law for private postsecondary institutions.

Concord's unique method of delivering instruction - via the Internet without a fixed classroom facility - places it in the correspondence school category under California law. While the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association (ABA) do not accredit correspondence schools, the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar registers schools in this category. Concord Law School is registered as such and the Juris Doctor (JD) program is designed to meet the legal education requirements of the Committee of Bar Examiners so that graduates may apply for admission to the State Bar of California.

Additionally, Concord is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). The DETC Accrediting Commission is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency and is a recognized member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

The DETC Accrediting Commission is one of 14 higher education accrediting bodies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Incorporated into the DETC's accrediting process is the concept that educational programs delivered at a distance should be comparable (in curriculum and outcomes) to those offered by accredited traditional residential universities. DETC-accredited institutions and their programs are evaluated on this basis within its published educational and ethical business standards.
