Colorado School of Trades provides professional horseshoeing and gunsmithing school training. Become a professional farrier or a gunsmith with outstanding training from Colorado School of Trades. Consider this - Colorado School of Trades has been teaching Gunsmithing since 1947. We can prepare you for an exciting career as a gunsmith in as little as 14 months. If you like to spend your workday repairing and building custom firearms, operating lathes and mills, and performing detailed wood shaping and finishing, then you have what it takes for a lifetime of success. Our basic gunsmithing course focuses on four levels of training:

Basic Section
  • With courses like: Drill Press Operation, Shop Math, Blue Print Reading, and more.
Machine Shop Section
  • With courses like: Engine Lathe, Milling, Universal Grinder, Welding and more.
Stockmaking Section
  • With courses like: Stockmaking, Ballistic-Handloading, Sights, Firearm Use and more.
Design & Function Section
  • With courses like: Conversions, Business Training, Trigger Assemblies and more.

Colorado School of Trades HorseshoeingHorseshoeing and the Farrier trade is for people who love animals and the outdoors.

In 4 1/2 months, Colorado School of Trades will teach you the skills you need as a farrier and all about starting your own business for a successful career.

Our program uses hands-on techniques to teach you all aspects of the Farrier business, like:

Hoof Care Section Blacksmith Section
  • Horse Handling
  • Equine Anatomy
  • Proper Shoeing
  • Hoof Trimming
  • Hammer Blows
  • Use of Forges
  • Heat Color
  • Applications of Hand-Made Shoes, and more!

Our Farrier program is designed for you if you are serious about your future. Our lab work is performed on live animals located in our fully equipped Farrier shop.    Colorado School of Trades Financial Aid

The Colorado School of Trades participates in the PELL Grant and FFEL Loan Programs. In each of these programs, an award is given based upon the financial and family situation of the prospective student. There is no charge for the evaluation procedure.

Financial aid is available to those who qualify. The majority of applicants at CST qualify for some financial assistance. We suggest that you take the time to ask the right questions and fill out the forms. It can't hurt!
